Aire Traffic

Aire Traffic is a unique blend of original jazz and rock music written and performed by air traffic controllers.

In 1996, two air traffic controllers from the Jacksonville Air Route Traffic Control Center (Wayne Lee and David Blumberg) were impassioned to combine their love for music and aviation in order to benefit cancer research. In 2004, Aire Traffic began its partnership with Children's Miracle Network. Using aviation as an inspiration in writing, producing, and performing their music, the current eight member band continues to entertain while raising money for Children's Miracle Network to benefit the pediatric programs of Shands Jacksonville and Wolfson Children's Hospital.

This music, talent and dedication is revealed through the four current CDs and the annual live concerts.

T'was the Flight Before Christmas

This magnificent concert, "T'was the Flight Before Christmas: Christmas Magic Under the Stars" will provide an evening of musical entertainment for couples and families alike as you welcome the holiday season. Held at the beautiful, newly redesigned St. Augustine Amphitheatre, you will get into the holiday spirit with the unique ambiance only an outdoor concert in the fall could provide. Attendees of all ages will enjoy the story of good old St. Nick as he travels from the North Pole around the world, and finally landing in St. Augustine. All kids, and kids at heart, will enjoy holiday cooking and hot chocolate prepared by the St. Augustine Culinary Arts Institute. They’ve even baked holiday cookies for your children to decorate and enjoy during the show.

Aire Traffic will take to the stage to provide a fantastic musical and visual display. Travel along with St. Nick as you watch his exploits on the big screen. As a special treat, renowned jazz singer Dot Wilder has agreed to join the performance this year, adding to what already promises to be a spectacular evening. And the Master of Ceremonies is none other than Arthur Crofton, radio personality extraordinaire.

There’s lots to see and do. Come prepared to place your bids to round out your holiday shopping during a silent auction featuring airline tickets, holiday items, gift baskets, and golf packages. Spend a little time on the flight simulators provided by the Aeronautical Academy. The St. Augustine High School Jazz Band will be performing at the VIP party. This is truly a community event designed for the whole family, from your youngest to your grandparents. Make this a “Flight to Remember.”
